My husband helped me put together a wonderful cutting table the other day. The table is put together using 4 – 3 by 3 cubbies. Originally the cubbies were all pushed together, but when putting the light table together, we used a piece of plexiglass and had to make the table longer. The table is now over 64 inches long by 34 inches wide. A large piece of heavy Plexiglas is over the top of the cubbies with two by 4s supporting the plexiglass up a short distance. A cutting board is placed on top of the Plexiglas.
Originally I tried a large plug in light with a cord stretched over. The cord was in the way, though the light did let out a good amount of light. I later ordered a string of LED lights that can be controlled with a remote control. They actually allow multiple colors though I just use the white choice. The table is perfect for cutting fabric and works great for matching patterns.
My husband did a great job and it works perfect for everything I need to do. I also have space to store things under the table!
